Ron Quick, M. Eng P. Eng. Principal
Ron is SVI’s principal technical advisor. He brings 30 years of experience in energy conversion technology design, development, testing and product development. Ron has spent the past 5 years working with SVI and Sustainable Development Technology Canada evaluating, recommending funding and supporting Canadian clean technology companies and demonstration projects. He has undertaken initial evaluations of 500 potential deals and performed in-depth due diligence of approximately 50 companies, working closely with these companies to identify and address gaps in their business and product development plans. Prior to this, Ron worked with Global Thermoelectric where he applied his skills as a product development manager, to develop residential fuel cell systems and maintain business relations with key partner, Enbridge.
Prior to this, he worked at Kinetrics where he was engaged in the development and testing of various energy conversion and distributed generation technologies, including micro-turbines and the first 200 kW fuel cell power plant to be installed in Canada. Prior to this, he spent 15 years with Ontario Hydro evaluating alternative energy systems and providing engineering and design solutions for Ontario Hydro’s fossil and nuclear generating plants. Ron was a key contributor to and editor of Ontario Hydro’s Alternative Energy Study submitted to the OEB as part of Ontario Hydro’s Demand/Supply plan and was a key technical reviewer for Ontario Hydro’s Renewable Energy Technology (RET) program. Ron holds a B.A.Sc. in Engineering Physics from Queen’s University, and an M.Eng, in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicist of Alberta (APEGGA), the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
Lou McGuire, Principal
Lou McGuire brings more than 20 years of experience and expertise serving Canadian Cabinet Ministers in policy areas which span energy, oil and gas, mining, forestry, fisheries, aboriginal interests and sustainable development. His depth and breath of policy acumen are fortified by his extensive business and political networks across federal and provincial jurisdictions, and extend to the international arena.
Lou will be responsible for business development with SVI, specifically the cultivation of strategic alliances and networks which advance the movement of sustainable development technologies to market. Lou’s reputation for candour and his capacity to optimally balance stakeholder interests enables him to offer SVI clients superior advice in promoting their interests.
